Author

Mikael Oez is an accomplished scholar with a diverse academic background in ancient languages and cultures. He earned his BA in Semitic Languages from Uppsala University, where he developed a strong foundation in the linguistic and historical complexities of the ancient Near East. He went on to pursue further specialization at the University of Oxford, completing both an MSt and a DPhil in Syriac Studies. His doctoral research focused on the rich literary and theological traditions of the Syriac-speaking Christian communities.

 

Following his doctoral work, Mikael held a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at SOAS, University of London, where his research centered on Turabdin Aramaic, a dialect spoken by the Syriac communities of southeastern Turkey. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to preserving and understanding the languages and cultures of the ancient Near East, particularly those on the verge of extinction.
